Among them, “Animal,” the latest release starring Ranbir Kapoor, recently soared into the prestigious Rs. 650 crore global gross club. This exclusive league also includes Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” and “Pathan,” Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2,” and Rajinikanth’s “Jailer.”
The year witnessed a cinematic extravaganza, with records being set and shattered by various movies. Notably, highly anticipated films such as “Dunki” and “Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire” are yet to grace the theaters, leaving room for more box office records.

“Animal” made its debut on December 1 and has been drawing audiences worldwide, contributing to its impressive global gross total of Rs. 650 crores. This places it alongside the other four Indian movies that achieved the same milestone this year. The esteemed Rs. 650 crore club was previously joined by “Jawan,” “Pathan,” “Gadar 2,” and “Jailer.”
According to Bala, a Film Trade Analyst, the top-earning movies of 2023, each surpassing Rs. 650 crores globally, are as follows:

In just nine days since its release, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action-packed “Animal” has generated an impressive revenue of over Rs. 660.89 crores worldwide. Despite facing criticism for alleged misogyny and toxicity, the film, featuring a cast including Bobby, Rashmika, and Anil Kapoor, is approaching the coveted Rs. 700 crore global gross milestone.
Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” made history by becoming the first film in 2023 to surpass Rs. 650 crores at the global box office. Co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, the spy thriller released around Republic Day and has amassed a total revenue of Rs. 1055 crores worldwide.
Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2” and Rajinikanth’s “Jailer,” released in August, collectively crossed the Rs. 650 crore mark at the global box office. “Gadar 2” alone earned a staggering Rs. 686 crores worldwide.
In September, film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan reported that “Jailer” had exceeded Rs. 650 crores in global earnings. The Tamil film, with Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu dubbing, featured a stellar cast including Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishna, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Vinayakan.
Shah Rukh Khan’s second hit of 2023, “Jawan,” raked in an astounding Rs. 1160 crores at the global box office. As anticipation builds for his third release of the year, “Dunki,” all eyes are on whether it can surpass the massive box office success of “Pathaan” and “Jawan.”
